A reminder to please be sure to send a jacket with your student, as it is starting to get more chilly as we move into Fall, and especially to dress appropriately for the weather on Muddy Mondays. This means outside shoes for outside and inside shoes for the inside. :)
Speaking of Muddy Mondays... we had our first Muddy Monday this week, and it was a HUGE success despite not being able to walk over to Pioneer Park. We teamed up with a Grade 3 buddy from Ms. Hoyes class to do a scavenger hunt in our very own back field area, and were surprised to find how many hidden treasures hid there! For the time being, until all Portal Permission Reports are filled out, both classes will be doing activities on school grounds. If you have not had the chance to, please try to fill these out this long weekend.
Most permission slips have been returned for our upcoming Skating Field Trip with our big buddies, and we are just missing a few more. Ms. Hiebert and I are noticing though, that we are still in need of parent drivers! :( If you can volunteer to help drive students to and from skating on October 17th from 8:30 am to 10:15 am, please let either of us know. Thanks in advance! Your help is greatly appreciated. If we do not manage to get enough drivers, we will have to cancel skating at this time.
Hot lunch orders were sent home this week, and are due October 13th. If you would like a Pizza Hot Lunch, your order must be turned in by this date.
Also sent home this Friday was each student's Home Reading bag. We have not started taking home books from the book cart, but this will begin next week (hopefully!). In the meantime, you will find Letter Sounds (Grade 1) and Sight Words (Grade 2) to review. Please take some time to read the Home Reading instructions also included in the bag. Students also have a Reading Log that they can fill-out. As an incentive, for every 10 books that students read, they will get the chance to pick a prize from the treasure box. Please try to keep the Home Reading bag in your student's backpack, so that it is accessible throughout the week at school for exchanging books/ reading time. Thanks!
I hope everyone has a relaxing long weekend, and a Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble Gobble!
Having fun exploring our very own "backyard" during Muddy Monday!
