Some Highlights...
* This week, we welcomed a new student to our class! Welcome to Golden Ears Elementary, Alexis! We are so excited to have you joining us this year! :)
* We have officially kicked off S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in Division 17! S.T.E.M. is a part of what we will be doing for Science as part of the new ADST (Applied Skills & Technology) component in the new curriculum. I will be adding photos in the S.T.E.M. section for you to check out! :)
* Our class has been working hard on building on stamina for Daily 5. We recently added a new component to Daily 5, adding Working on Writing to the mix! We reached our goal and we decided to celebrate with a GUM DAY on Friday! What a bubbly way to celebrate!
* We also finished off our first math unit working on Patterns! To celebrate, we made pattern necklaces with Fruit Loops! The class had a wonderful time showing me what they had learned while sharing a tasty snack!
Reminders...
* Photo Orders were sent home this week, and are due back on Monday, October 16th. If you would like re-takes, or if you missed Photo Day, photographers will be back on October 25th. Please note that if you would like re-takes, forms still need to be returned.
* October Scholastic Orders were sent home Friday. Again, ordering is completely optional. If you do decide to order, please return forms back to school by Friday, October 27th. Payment is available online or cheque only. Cash will not be accepted.
* We started taking home books for our Home Reading Program this week. Please remind students to bring their home-reading bag to school everyday so that they get a chance to exchange for a new book to practice at home. Remember to also practice letter sounds/ sight words included in the folders. Once all cards have been mastered, if you could please write me a quick note in the planner, that will help me to send home the next set to practice. :)
* There is an upcoming Pro-D on Friday, October 20th. No school for students! :)
Lastly, a HUGE THANK YOU to all parents who volunteered to help drive for our Skating Field Trip next Tuesday!
Speaking of field trip, please remember to send your child to school on Tuesday with a booster seat and skating gear (helmets and skates if they have them).
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! :)
